Trustee Expression of Interest

The Wakatipu High School Foundation are seeking expressions of interest for a

new Trustee to join the the Board.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a new Trustee to join the Board and provide hands-on involvement as the WHS Foundation continues to drive community engagement and financial support for Wakatipu High School (WHS). Trustee positions are on a voluntary basis.

About the Wakatipu High School Foundation

The WHS Foundation was established as a charitable trust in 2013 to support WHS in delivering an outstanding education and to oversee the management and prudent investment of the generous gifts and donations from our school community.

​

Our vision is that all WHS students are enabled to meet their potential in a supportive and well-resourced environment. Working closely with WHS senior leadership, we provide WHS with additional funding to ensure a world-class education offering to all our students. We fund a range of initiatives annually which enables WHS to drive high academic, sporting, and arts achievement, assists students who are experiencing financial hardship to fully participate in educational and extra-curricular opportunities as well as supporting the wellbeing of our school community.  Learn more about WHS Foundation here.

Who is a good fit?

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is involved in the Wakatipu community, interested in youth education and has the time available to contribute to a multi-faceted organisation and our future aspirations.

​

WHS Foundation seeks Trustees with a broad background and while a range of skills would be welcome those with sponsorship and stakeholder business development and engagement, and event management experience would be of particular interest, as would demonstration of the following attributes:

  • An interest in youth education

  • Established connections within the Wakatipu school business and/or philanthropic communities

  • A general understanding of the charitable / educational sectors

  • An interest in being involved in the development of corporate sponsorship and fundraising activities

Time commitment: 

Trustee positions are on a voluntary basis with the Board meeting approx 8 times per year. Trustees are each responsible for a project portfolio in which they are expected to actively develop and support in conjunction with the WHS Foundation Executive Officer. Trustees are also encouraged to participate in the WHS Foundation event and fundraising activities.

Board positions are voluntary and roles are generally for 3 years.
