Kirsty Mactaggart
Trustee
Kirsty has had a home in Queenstown for almost 25 years and driven by a wish for their son to have the best childhood growing up in Queenstown, moved here permanently with her husband 8 years ago. Their son started Arrowtown Primary school the day he turned 5 and is now a Wakatipu High School year 9 student.
Prior to moving to New Zealand, Kirsty had a 25-year banking and investment career at KPMG, Citigroup and Fidelity in London, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Since “retiring” Kirsty has developed a governance career in New Zealand serving on the Infratil Board, Sharesies Board, and as a Guardian of New Zealand
Superannuation Fund. Kirsty also has an advisory business helping offshore investors to create a meaningful presence in New Zealand, and when not busy with numbers, exercises the other side of her brain with property design and runs a luxury holiday rental business.
Kirsty strongly believes that the WHSF has one of the most direct and significant positive impacts on our community and is passionate about being involved.
Kirsty hopes to use her experience to support the Foundation to be ambitious and to scale as our school role continues to grow. The Foundation will need new ideas and continued and broader generous support, as well as diligent investing and fund allocation to support WHS to thrive.
The success of the local high school is the pride of the community and plays an especially important role in integrating and assimilating a fast-growing town. Kirsty champions the increasing diversity within the school and is passionate about every child having equal access to the country’s best all-round education and has no doubt that supporting the WHSF is the key to supporting WHS to deliver this.
