Funding 2026
$400 per student.
$600,000 for Wakatipu High School.
One Community. One Goal
The initiatives we fund annually are carefully selected to provide the greatest benefit to WHS and our students. Our funding supports students to reach their potential and supports inclusiveness and wellness.

Literacy & Numeracy
With over 20% of students entering WHS below the expected level in reading, writing, and maths, raising literacy and numeracy achievement is a key strategic priority. The Structured Literacy Programme allows WHS to significantly enhance its intervention efforts, providing targeted support to students who need to accelerate their reading and writing skills.

Wellbeing
Wellbeing is increasingly an issue for NZ teenagers and schools. WHS is deeply committed to the wellbeing of every student. Funding enables a dedicated team of trained counsellors, the GoodSpace digital screening tool to proactively monitor student wellbeing, and the STARS programme for Year 9 transition.

Ä€whina Support Fund
Teacher aides support students’ learning, progress and achievement in a variety of ways. With the support of the WHSF, WHS employs 9 teacher aides above government entitlement.

Teachers
Investing in our most important resource - our teachers. With additional teachers and teacher aides supporting student learning, and meaningful housing assistance helping us attract and retain exceptional educators, we are strengthening outcomes for every learner.

Outdoor Education
Funding provides students with life-changing outdoor education experiences, including the Greenstone and Branches Camps and Outward Bound courses for our Head Boy and Head Girl, fostering resilience, teamwork, and confidence.
